Oh, stickers… Charmingly simple and deceptively addictive.
Dentists, pediatricians, little league coaches, music teachers, restaurants, and even grocery stores hand them out to your kids after checkups, lessons, practices, and in check-out lines. Kids’ birthday parties often end with the distribution of party favor bags full of stickers, soon peppering your child’s room, books, furniture, and face.
And why not?
I’ll bet that one of the things you bought to keep your kids entertained during your last long flight or car ride on a family vacation was … lots of stickers.
Stickers have been around for a long time!
They are believed to have been invented by the Ancient Egyptians about 5,000 years ago. According to archeologists, market advertisements were scribbled on a hard surface and then pasted to the wall with a kind of glue. (And don’t you want a recipe for that glue? I bet it’s the same stuff they used for wrapping mummies, and we all know that it was indestructible!)
Since then, stickers have only spread in popularity throughout the world, growing into a multi-billion-dollar industry.
This is not surprising when you consider the utility value and variety of options. From customized stickers (such as your kid’s name and allergy information for school) to permanent stickers (name badges and company logo magnets). As well as those collectibles we all put on our water bottles and laptop nowadays. And oh yes! Let’s not forget the best invention ever: glitter stickers!
If your kids, like mine, love beautiful stickers, then let me tell you about our first experience using a custom sticker company, how my kids and I are using StickerYou products, and how you can create some gorgeous and totally unique stickers for yourself too.

3 Ways to be Extra Creative with StickerYou
1. Build on Your Kids’ Interests
We started by sitting down to figure out what we were most excited about at the moment. The website has a huge database of stickers, but you can also quickly download any other image you prefer – like a family photo or a cute pic of your pup.
Once the pic is downloaded, you can easily use editor buttons to play around with the stickers’ size and composition. In reality, there are so many ways to customize your project that it quickly turns into an exciting artistic adventure! Plus an excellent practice with simple computer-aided design.
My kids and I had a great time thinking about and picking out unique stickers that reflect their current interests and hobbies.
My youngest son immediately said, “Racoons!” He loves raccoons (as you can probably tell from his room photo below).
So naturally, he wanted raccoon stickers to decorate his favorite cup, water bottle, and pencil box.
My oldest daughter is a competitive gymnast (check out the video below), so she wanted stickers with gymnasts and inspirational slogans like “Stay focused” for her dairy/calendar.
2. Use Stickers for Bonding
I know you probably think of stickers as something you give to your kids just to get a few minutes of peace (and I hear you, sometimes that’s what we need to survive), but stickers also offer an amazing opportunity to learn more about your kids.
When I sat down to order a few custom stickers for each of my kids, I quickly found out what each one of my kids had on their minds. My oldest son requested something with Star Wars and a cello (he is a cello player). And my youngest daughter rattled off a long list of her favorite things: “butterflies, fox, wolf, dinosaur, dragon, and a unicorn, mom!!”
Here are two fun ways to use stickers for bonding:
- Browse some logos and create a logo of your own that includes your family photo so that you can use it on Christmas gifts for family and friends.
- Better yet, come up with a catchy motto for your family that you can turn into a sticker! Put it on your car, laptop, or bike.

3. Live Your Dream
While we love traditional stickers to no end – from animal sticker rolls that go into a notebook on long drives to sticker activity books that teach ABCs – when it comes to finding the best fit for your dreams, custom stickers have no comparison.
And who says stickers are just for kids? They are silly fun! And most adults could use some of that energy too.
Do you have an intention of exercising more or eating less? Express it in a sticker, peel it off, and stick it to your wrist, et voila – a constant reminder of the power of intention. You can create:
- anti-anxiety stickers to help you through tough days,
- water bottle inspiration labels to stay focused, or even
- a signature wall decal for your living room.
Do you have a business, idea, or product you want to tell the world about? Upload your artwork and turn it into unique stickers. Here you can see how I used my blog’s logo to create custom glitter stickers for Kid Minds. Aren’t they cute?!
Next on our list?
Glitter unicorns and eco-safe paper roll labels.
What about you?
No matter who you are or your age, I highly recommend taking a break to jump onto the StickerYou website, get inspired, and have some fun!
